The outcome of the drought is still clearly visible, the water-level is still something like six feet below normal.

Last Thursday, with the temperature of the water at a good level for trout, the lake was stocked with good-sized rainbow trout again.

With the weather forecast the way it is, it might well take several months before the level of the lake is back to normal. It takes weeks of heavy rain to raise the level of the water in the sandy bottom in the whole east of the Netherlands.

The trout were clearly visible in the upper layers of the water and along the shoreline, so floating and intermediate lines were the go to equipment.

Waders are not really necessary, the bottom drops sharply just a few feet from where you can walk with regular boots, so there is hardly an advantage.

The carp and sturgeon lakes are at a low level too, in the carp lake a lot of carp could still be seen just below the surface.
