Simon Barnes started fishing with his grandmother at the age of seven. From catching with his hands he soon moved on to worms and fly fishing. This passion for trout led him away from his father’s profession as a doctor to farming trout.

All the while he repaired his own rods or made them for friends. After retiring from trout farming these friends suggested making custom fly rods for sale – Simba Rods was born and are now found all over the world.
