The first IFTD Demo Day, organized by the American Fly Fishing Tackle Association (AFFTA) at the Ritz Carlton at Grande lakes in Orlando, was a major success. Numerous people from tackle shops and the media took the chance to test new fly-rods, fly-lines and fly-reels at the waterside and to discuss these products with the brands that had set up booths here.

The ‘Air’ is a great addition to the Winston rod range. In line weights #3 – 6 they are the lightest, finest performing fly rods they have made so far, apparently.
Winston has bought Bauer this last year and already there are some new additions to the line-up of reels.
Produced by Scientific Anglers according to Winston’s specifications, they now have a complete range of fly lines that perfectly match the different rods.

Scientific Anglers has further improved its coating technique, the new lines are 20 to 40 percent more slick and more durable than the previous ones and those of the competitors.An interesting line-up of new leaders for fly fishing for pike, muskie and other toothy critters.Some of the new Scientific Anglers fly lines were already available for casting.The new flyrods by G.Loomis and Shimano, the Asquith series, created quite a buzz shortly before the show.According to Steve Rajeff the blanks of the new Asquith fly rods have no hard or soft side, thanks to a new production process.
