Semperfli’s Biggest Ever Product Launch!

It gives Semperfli immense pleasure to share with you, details of their mega new product launch! Their R&D team has been working hard to develop amazing new products to fill much needed gaps in the fly tying market – with the usual Semperfli innovation of course!
Listed below is a resume of the exciting new materials.

 

Boom Dubbing

Boom Dubbing from Semperfli is a new specialist mix of up to 5 SemperSeal colours and 6 Semperfli Ice Dubbings. With 100mm strands of Boom Dubbing with 1.5gm per pack, it is targeted at predator and saltwater flies. With the translucent SemperSeal and vibrant flashes from Semperfli Ice Dubbing embedded in this unique dubbing, this dubbing sets new standards for colour and effect in fly tying.

It is easy to break down dubbing into smaller samples but impossible to grow dubbing, hence why Boom dubbing is offered in 100mm or 4 inch strands for those large streamers. With its longer length strands, it can be broken into smaller sized dubbing as required.

Scud Dubbing

Scud Dubbing from Semperfli is a specialist blend of up to 5 SemperSeal colours and 6 Semperfli Ice Dubbings in 16mm or ¾ inch staple lengths with 0.75gm per pack – perfect for nymphs, bugs and dry flies. With the translucent SemperSeal and vibrant flashes from Semperfli Ice Dubbing embedded in this unique dubbing, Scud dubbing sets new standards for colour and effect in fly tying.

Mopster

Mop flies have proved deadly in lakes, reservoirs, managed fisheries and the wild. Semperfli looked at the mop fly and decided to upgrade it to make the mop fly even more deadly and created Mopster tm!  There are some more great choices in the range too.

Semperfli measured the diameter of a range of mops to work out a consistent size then created an entirely new chenille with multi-coloured guard hair tinsels protruding from the chenille.

With Mopster the tinsel provides mobility and additional attraction in the water but makes the mop fly look astounding. Dyed in the Semperfli standard colour palette Mopster is available in a colour range never seen by any fly tyer, from fluoro colours to adams and tan. Mopster is the future of the mop fly. No more using household mops to make flies. No more limit to the size of mop, with the Mopster you can cut just how much you want to use.

Game Changer Kits

Game Changer flies are a distinct style of highly articulated streamer patterns designed and popularized by Blane Chocklett from USA, one of the fly fishing industry’s most forward-thinking and innovative fly designers. Semperfli designed a set of chenilles perfect for tying these articulated wonders. The Semperfli Game Changer kit is a set of 30mm, 20mm, 10mm and 8mm chenilles with a holographic pearl flash running through – perfect for making your own Game Changer flies. Use the different sized chenilles to create that taper with a light trim.

Wrap the different sized Semperfli Game Changer material on the articulated shanks and enhance your flies with permanent marker pens to create that articulated and realistic look fly. Steaming the Chenille before tying with it will help get the most out of the material. Popular options for this include holding it over boiling water or using a handheld steamer. Please use care at all times.

Hair Stacker Nano Silk 300D

Hair Stacker Nano Silk gsp from Semperfli is designed especially for the tying of hair stacking flies such as the larger saltwater or predator flies. With its incredible strength of 11.4Kg or 25.13lb breaking strain your hook may break before Nano Silk Hair Stacker thread. Indeed please be careful with your bobbin holder, it is much, much stronger than the ceramic tubes on bobbin holders!

Super strong, this is the highest quality thread available. With its extra size this thread can lay flat so it does not break your deer hair and can be used to build bodies and heads rapidly.

It is ten times stronger than steel of the same diameter!

The addition of Hair Stacker to the family means there is a Nano Silk to suit all types of fly tying.

SiliLegs

Each pack of Sililegs from Semperfli contains 5 sets of 22 silicone legs each measuring 0.1mm wide. Each strip measures 5 inches/127mm long and 3/5 inch/15.4mm wide. These are perfect for legs on nymphs, terrestrials and bugs. Fantastic choices for you too in the range!

Tungsten Beads

These top Tungsten Slotted Beads from Semperfli are perfect for flies and jigs. Tungsten gets flies down twice as fast as cheaper brass beads weighting your flies to drop quickly to where the fish are. The enlarged slot recess allows you to easily get the bead around the gape of the hook.  Flies will look even more stunning with Semperfli beads on them – they will be irresistible!

Each pack contains 10 Tungsten.

Camo Chenille

Camo Chenille from Semperfli is a unique 100% recycled polyester chenille which behaves much the same as hen feathers with lots of mobility.  With Semperfli’s desire for sustainability this material is made from plastic bottles! The bottles go through a mechanical (not chemical process), turning them into polymers that are spun to create an entirely new and unique chenille.

Available in 4 mm, 8 mm and 15 mm lengths Camo Chenille be used in different ways. You can wrap the chenille around the hook making it perfect for caddis, shrimps – its soft fibres promote superb movement in the water. Another alternative use for Camo Chenille is to tie it under the hook as legs where it can be brushed out to give a really leggy look

15 mm is perfect for flies size #10 or larger

8 mm is great for flies size #10 to #16

4 mm is just right for flies size #14 to #18

Fry Chenille

Fry Chenille from Semperfli is a 30mm wide chenille ideal for full bodied flies such as streamers and shrimps.  Simply wind the Fry Chenille around the hook shank to create a perfectly wide body.  There are lots more colour choices for you in the range.

Suggestion – add Semperfli Predator Fibre as an overwing for a perfect streamer!

Hi Float Plastazote Foam Blocks

Hi Float Plastazote Foam Block is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene block foam. This closed cell foam has micro bubbles of nitrogen embodied in the cells which help your fly’s flotation. Much thicker than the closed cell foam sheet, it is great for booby eyes, detached bodies, shell backs or anything else you want to float!

Ice Chenille

Ice Chenille from Semperfli is a translucent, light-reflecting, crystal-type chenille – a vividly dyed chenille.  It can be used as a body wrap on large hooks. Ice Chenille is perfect for streamer and saltwater patterns such as shrimps or Crazy Charlies.

Holographic Fleck Chenilles

Holo Fleck Chenille from Semperfli is a uniquely designed chenille! Semperfli have added tinsel to the chenille which is dyed and then that extra holographic flash is added creating a fantastic edge to your fly pattern. It is part of the great range available in 4mm, 8mm and 15mm.

15 mm is perfect for flies size #10 and above

8 mm is ideal for flies size #12 to #16

4 mm is just right for flies size #14 to #18

Holographic Tinsel Chenilles

Semperfli developed the Holographic Tinsel Chenille as a very thin chenille so it can be used in a variety of ways.  Suggestions are; as a hackle, behind feathers to lift them or as a body chenille for flies such as mini lures and of course flies like the Humungus, Gold Arsed Cats and Booby bodies where the 15mm Holographic Chenille has mobility and vibrant shine – ready to be hit by any predatory fish.

Your Semperfli Holographic Chenille is available in
• 4mm (small) perfect for size 12 and 14 hooks
• 8mm (medium) for size 10 and 8 hooks
• 15mm (large) for size 10 to 4 hooks.

Pearl Chenilles

Pearl Chenille from Semperfli is a strong and dense chenille with added pearl mylar to add that iridescent flash to your fly patterns. It is perfect for hot spots, thoraxes and bodies on small flies or wrapped as a body. There are lots of choices in the range!

Lead wire

Semperfli Lead Wire is a round high grade lead wire which comes on a spool. It can be used extensively to weigh down flies, making ribs etc especially nymphs. Lead wire should be treated with caution as lead is known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm and cancer. Exposure to lead during pregnancy can affect brain development and cause learning and behavior problems for the child. Because of this and to adhere to USA legislation, particularly in California, each spool carries a Proposition 65 warning. We recommend that you use protective gloves when using or winding lead wire onto flies if you are tying lots of flies.

Perfect Quills in new colours

Semperfli Perfect Quills are a fantastic synthetic alternative to stripped peacock quills which provide the perfect quill every time.  They have a premarked black edging, looks natural and is so easy to use! Perfect Quills are a great addition to your fly tying kit and there are more choices range!

We have added in a range of additional colours to this existing popular range – each with strips 100mm long. There are 20 quills per pack. Each quill is 100mm in length (you can get 2 flies per quill depending on your fly size).

As these Perfect Quills are synthetic a coating of resin or varnish will make flies tied with them virtually bulletproof!

Suede Chenilles – medium and large

An addition to the wonderful suede chenille range, we now have medium 1.5 mm and large 2 mm options!  And there are some fantastic new colours to choose from too!
