The Blue Dun Hackle is a classic, subtle pattern for trout and grayling, mimicking emerging mayflies, especially Blue-Winged Olives (BWOs) or Iron Blue Duns, using bluish-grey or dun-coloured soft hen hackle and a muted body (like mole fur or dun wool) to imitate the insect struggling just below the surface. In this video we once again have our own Lars Chr. Bentsen behind the vise to demonstrate this simple yet beautifully spider using only few materials – all kept in the historical point of view and in the spirit from James (Jim) E. Leisenring who is named one of the towering figures in American wet-fly fishing and the author of the classic book “The Art of Tying the Wet Fly and Fishing the Flymph” where this pattern is described.
