Signature Tyer Tom Rosenbauer
In this video, Signature Fly Tyer Tom Rosenbauer demonstrates how to tie the Double Tungsten Pheasant Tail Nymph. Pheasant Tail is one of the most popular natural fly tying materials and is incredibly versatile in its applications. While the original pheasant tail nymph dates back to the 1950’s, by UK fly fisherman and river keeper Frank Sawyer, countless anglers since then have built upon the design and incorporated their own signature updates to the fly. Here, Tom shows how he ties his super simple and effective Double Tungsten Pheasant Tail, which relies on two beads for the abdomen, and just a few materials that almost all fly tyers have at their desks.
To tie this fly, all you need is a hook, two tungsten beads, thread, copper wire, and pheasant tail. Tom talks about what makes a pheasant tail nymph so versatile and effective for trout all around the world.
