Peter Elberse, of webshop Fly Fishing For Pike, introduced a new pike fly hook during the Experience the World of Fly Fishing (EWF). The new hook is available in sizes #4/0 and #6/0.
The #6/0 is a great pike fly hook. The #4/0 is also great for perch and zander. Weight: #4/0 ±0,09 gram, #6/0 ±1,25 grams. The carbon steel hooks are finished with a black nickel coating. That gives these hooks corrosion resistance, camouflage and increased durability.

Peter Elberse is personally a fan of the down shaped hook bend. They offer a great balance and lock well into the pikes jaw. Big barbs are a nightmare when unhooking pike. But on the other hand a barbless hook can drop out, especially when the pike starts jumping. So Peter Elberse’s hook needed to come with a micro-barb. Easy to unhook but it won’t drop out on a well-hooked pike that goes airborne.

A pike hook needs to be sharp and penetrate upon contact. So the point on this pike hook is slightly longer, sharp and pointing downward so it will hook into flesh instantly on the take. The pike hook is made of carbon steel wire, forged for extra strength.

The hooks are made in China under supervision of one of the leading top hook brands in the world. The new streamer hooks are available in 10 pieces and 20 pieces per pack.
