The second day of the ICAST – IFTD Show in Orlando, Florida, (after a day with on the water demonstrations), started with the State of the Industry Breakfast in the Orange County Convention Center.
Ken Schmidt, the former Director of Communications Strategy for Harley-Davidson Motor Company, was the keynote speaker. Ken, one of the most in-demand speakers and communications consultants in America, has lived a life that most can only dream about. He has toured the world on two wheels, met with presidents and royalty, partied with movie and music legends and appeared numerous times on network news.
Shortly after the opening of the show, Shimano held a press meeting to introduce their new products. John Mazurkiewitcz made it all run smoothly.

Next stop was the G.Loomis stand in the IFTD part of the show where Steve Rajeff once more explained some of the technology behind the new Asquith fly-rods during a meeting for the press.

A survey was published on the state and the sales by the independent fly-shops in the USA, this was done by AFFTA and Southwick Associates.
