RIO’s has the very best selection of saltwater tippet – ensuring you are covered for every species, fishery and situation on the planet.
But which tippet is best for spooky fish, casting big flies, abrasion resistance or maximum strength? Read on to find out…
Our regular Saltwater mono has the highest knot and tensile strength of all saltwater tippet. Medium-stiff, it is a great all around material for most saltwater applications.
RIO’s Hard Mono is the stiffest and most abrasion resistant nylon we make, and perfect for shock tippet, casting big flies and turning over in the toughest winds.
Our Fluoroflex saltwater material is 100% fluorocarbon and the least visible underwater. This is an excellent material for permit and tarpon (in the larger sizes), and for any situation with particularly wary fish.
RIO’s Wire Bite Tippet is a very soft, flexible wire that you can easily tie knots in. Being wire, it is the perfect choice for casting to fish with teeth such as bluefish, barracuda and sharks.
In case you missed it…
