Investing in Bristol Bay means permanent protections for the region

Dear Bristol Bay supporters,

On Wednesday the 7th of April, 50 investors representing $105 billion released a letter calling for the EPA and Congress to permanently protect Bristol Bay from large-scale mining.

Join investors in telling EPA and Congress that we want permanent protections for Bristol Bay today.

While recognizing the importance of natural resource development to support economic growth, the signers of the letter expressed deep concern over the long-term negative social and environmental impacts of projects like Pebble.

The letter echoes what Indigenous communities, hunters, anglers, commercial fishermen and others in Bristol Bay have been calling for: the EPA to use its authority under Section 404(c) of the Clean Water Act to restrict mine waste disposal in the watershed, and for Congress to provide permanent federal protection against large scale mining in the region.
We need decision-makers across the country to know that we want these permanent protections for Bristol Bay. Please send your elected officials a request today.

Protection for years to come

The ball is rolling, and our work absolutely does not end until we have assurance that the people and fish-based resources of southwest Alaska are protected for the years to come.

Thank you for continuing to stand with Bristol Bay!

Sincerely,

Meghan and Trout Unlimited’s Save Bristol Bay team
