Ahrex – Ally’s Shrimp – by Håkan Karsnäser

Salmon live a large part of their lives feeding on shrimp and small fish, and perhaps this is why shrimp patterns throughout history have always been effective in luring the salmon to take a fly, when they return to the rivers and rivers. The orange-coloured shrimp flies are a must-have in the boxes, and one of the most famous shrimp flies is the Ally’s Shrimp. Scottish fly tyer Ally Gowans is the man behind this modern classic salmon-fly pattern, and we have had our very own Håkan Karsnäser behind the vise to demonstrate the tying of the Ally’s Shrimp.
