Dear Bristol Bay supporters: Late last week, the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska vacated the EPA’s 2019 decision to withdraw the Bristol Bay 404c Proposed Determination. Translation: the Court is ordering EPA to reinstate proposed protections for the headwaters of Bristol Bay. This victory comes after two years of fighting to get Bristol Bay the protections it deserves.

When we entered this lawsuit nearly two years ago, we called on our community to help us defend the conservation tools that will help us get to permanent protections for Bristol Bay. You donated generously, and helped us push through the big roadblocks we encountered along the way. At the end of it all, Trout Unlimited was the only plaintiff in this legal effort, and that’s because of your generous support. Thank you.
While we are excited about the outcome of the lawsuit, we know that there is still work to finalize the protections, a process that we will be heavily engaged with in 2022. As we look forward to continuing this work, we once again are asking for your support to help us move efficiently and strategically through the process (as well as our aligned effort to introduce legislation to forever protect Bristol Bay).
